The Committee for Special Education (CSE) is a parent-led volunteer organization serving families of children with IEPs, GIEPs, and/or 504 Service Agreements in Lower Merion School District since 1972.

The Committee for Special Education:

  • Offers families information and resources through our general meetings, Brown Bag Lunches, website, and listserv.
  • Informs families about laws and policies that affect families of children with educational, social, emotional, or medical needs.
  • Helps families advocate for their children to obtain resources and services through training and parent/guardian support.
  • Works to expand opportunities for children and young adults with special needs.
  • Collaborates with LMSD administrators to share parent perspectives, improve programming and policies, and solve problems.

Brown Bag Meetings
Led by our CSE co-president Vicki Peetros and other CSE representatives, these meetings are informal gatherings for family members to share information and resources, and discuss issues and concerns.  They are usually held the first Wednesday of the month from 11:30-1. Location for our fall meetings will be the Bryn Mawr Community Center (which shares a parking lot with the Ludington Library), 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., 19010.
