Kendra Waninger, MSW, PhD
Kendra Waninger, MSW, PhD has devoted her career to advocating for children and their families. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with families and schools as a multidisciplinary team to ensure that parents are meaningful partners in ensuring their child’s needs are met. Kendra has experience addressing a range of needs and disabilities, including gifted support, ADHD/ADD, autism spectrum disorders, emotional and mental health, and learning differences. Kendra earned her Master in Social Work degree from Marywood University and her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of
Delaware. Kendra interviewed mothers and their child siblings in domestic violence shelters for her dissertation titled, A Qualitative Exploration of Middle Childhood Sibling Relationship Quality Within the Context of Intimate Partner Violence. Kendra has also collaborated on published manuscripts and/or presentations on topics including adolescent coping and alcohol use, leadership perspectives of those providing supports and services to people with disabilities, the importance of sensory functioning, issues surrounding child abuse and intimate partner violence, teacher coping actions, and the social and emotional development of children. From 2019 thru 2020, Kendra participated in and completed the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) Special Education Advocate Training (SEAT) 1.0 and 2.0. SEAT 2.0 included a year-long course- based training along with a practice experience for those involved with special education advocacy.
