Melanie Young

Melanie has had the privilege of teaching and advocating for students with special needs for over twenty years. While teaching in the elementary and middle public-school setting as a special education teacher, she earned her graduate degree from George Washington University, with a focus on special education transition. During this time, Melanie attended congressional hearings that sought to improve the lives of individuals with special needs. When Melanie relocated to Chester County, PA, she worked for the Chester County Intermediate Unit as a Preschool Service Coordinator for West Chester Area School District and Unionville-Chadds Ford School District.

In 2016, Melanie completed the Wilson Reading Certification program and then developed her private tutoring company, “Young Literacy Connection, teaching individuals with dyslexia, while also contracting for the Chester County Intermediate Unit to provide Wilson Reading instruction. Through her work in Chester County, Melanie diligently supported or worked alongside individuals, families, educators, and other educational professionals, which led to her advocacy and educational consultant position with Raffaele and Associates in 2018. Melanie has worked with hundreds of clients through the special education process, helping families get the resources and supports they need, educating clients on their child’s educational rights, improving IEPs and 504s, collaborating with highly trained educational professionals and experts, and supporting families through a difficult time or crisis.
