Social, Community-based, and Residential Programs
JCHAI, Judith Creed Homes for Adult Independence
JCHAI’s family of programs offer supportive independent living for people with Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities starting at transition, age 18 and going through the entire adult lifespan. JCHAI Transitions presents teens and young adults with social and creative learning opportunities through weekly classes, weekend trips & parties. Additional programming for people with HFASD. JCHAI at Home offers individualized 1:1 skills teaching and supports to people living at home with their family, or on their own. Social workers meet learners in their home and community and help them find and keep meaningful employment, develop friendships and date, perform life skills independently, travel train, and more to lead a fully engaged life. The JCHAI Supported Apartment Program in Bryn Mawr provides daily skills, staff support, friendship, and a “community within the community” at a large apartment complex offering a fitness center, pool and gardens. College Support Programs
Any college which receives federal funding must offer supports for students with documented disabilities. Look for "Student Support Services" or "ADA services" on the website of the college you are interested in. Some colleges go further, offering special programs for students with disabilities. Below is a very short and by no means inclusive list of programs nearby.
